Jack's 2.5-year well-child visit

Today Jack saw his new pediatrician for his 2.5-year well-child visit. Actually, he didn't see his pediatrician (that he has a mad crush on) because she went on maternity leave this week! Dr. Trojnar was due 1/29 with her first baby and we enjoyed talking with her last week. She will also be back in time to see our new baby girl in the hospital. Instead, today we got to meet another doctor in the practice, Dr. Pabari, for Jack's visit.

Here are his stats:

  • Height: 33 5/8 inches (I think they were being generous) ... 10th percentile
  • Weight: 28.75 pounds... 25th percentile
She asked me a LOT of questions about his development, his skills, any discipline problems we've been having, injuries, his eating habits. She was amazingly patient and very thorough. She even had a good sense of humor, because I literally finished the sentence, "yes, potty training is going well for his age. He tells me 50% of the time when he has to use the potty" and Jack started grunting and panting in the corner for his morning constitutional. :) Such a boy!!!

She did a full body exam and said he's in absolutely perfect health. His tubes are still in and working (STILL!!!!) and she said his ears, tonsils, adenoids, glands, tummy, and boy parts all look awesome. He impressed her with his verbal skills and he had a lot of fun with his exam.

Then came the bad part ... I didn't think he was due for any shots, but apparently I was wrong. He had to get boosters for pneumonia and influenza and that meant one shot in each arm. He sat in my lap like a big boy and braced himself, but the second the needle went in, he screamed - a lot. And what's a poor pregnant Mommy to do? Start crying too. Which I think scared him even more. Oops :( Anyway, after a quick stop at Lucky to get chocolate chip pancakes, we are all better.

I am so happy to have found a practice that is a lot like Dr. Hunt's office in Massachusetts. It's small, they really take time with the kids, and they aren't phased by poopy diapers :) I can't wait for them to see our new baby girl!
