These crazy kids.

Our two kids are turning out to be quite the little characters.

  • Jack has entered the "why?" phase. I always thought this was an old wives tale, or a funny joke that people made about kids. It's not. It's real and it's exhausting! In just the last week, I've had to explain evaporation and rain, the large intestine and how our food gets digested, and how fresh water gets into the faucets in the sink and the bathtub. And he wants real, scientifically accurate answers, not made-up off-the-cuff fluffy ones. If I don't answer, he continues to ask over and over and over again until I do. I love that he's so curious - but soon I'm going to have to start pulling out my old textbooks!
  • Caroline is super laid-back, but oh so silently stubborn. She's now sleeping swaddled...with one arm out...on her side. I have no idea how she does it, or how it's comfortable. Her sleeping habits continue to amaze me. She also flips her binky around upside down the second I put it in. She looks absolutely ridiculous and is quickly moving to becoming totally dependent on it (no worries here, I loved my nuk-nuks when I was little!!!!) So she has it in most all the time, sideways or upside down. As my mom said, she's such a rebel.
  • Jack was so very excited to go back to school on Wednesday. He ran right into his classroom, gave his teacher Michelle a big hug, and ran right over to his favorite toys. He's had a great few days back and I am so happy that he's excited to be there. He also loves to tell me who was bad and who was good every day. The bad kids get a frown and a look of disapproval, while the good kids get a big smile. I ask him what he was and he always says "um, good!" .... but I'm not convinced.
  • Caroline is ON THE MOVE! She's gone from scooting slowly to all-out fast scooting (I won't call it crawling yet because it's more army-style with her butt down, but somehow she's FAST.) The other day she went from Jack's room where we were playing into the bathroom, then down the hall into the living room, in about 5 minutes. When she wants something...watch out! It's funny, the spots where she gets rug burn are the insides of her knees and the tips of her toes. She's got her own style, but it works!
Here are a few pictures. They keep me on my toes, but man, they are SO much fun!
It's our after-bath routine now to snuggle in bed and watch the "baby movie."

She sure has a lot to say... just not quite sure how to say it yet.
Binky upside down? Check.

Some shots I just found of Jack at the beach on St. Simons. It was about 45
degrees out, and he was happy as a clam.

So HAPPY to be crawling! Now she can reach everything to put in her mouth!

So determined.

  1. SO glad you guys are back! I can't wait until Spence is better and we can reconnect our two little crazies. :) He went in to the dr. yesterday and got some antibiotics and an inhaler of albuterol. His cough is fierce and so so sad. We're really trying to keep it from Daniel so I have been banned from Spencer and Daddy is taking over. Pretty sad to feel like we have to stay separate - but very worth it for baby's sake.
We'll call the moment we are better!!!
