Here is a random assortment of photos from our day yesterday. I would write more, but my whole body hurts - literally even my wrists. That's a good thing, though?? Right??

The start line. We left in waves every 5 minutes...there were a TON of people. |
For the record, I did just over 5 miles in 58 minutes. And I ran 90% of it. Except for the part where I had to walk, because I fell flat on my face in the middle of the road. Yes, my face. I skinned up my knees (my right knee in particular) and my chin and scraped up my hands. But every athlete has battle scars, right?? :)

My swag. |

You can see how far back I was in the pack, ha ha ha. |

My view of myself. (Hey, I was alone. What do you expect?) |

SELFIE!!!!! |
The race went well. I was proud of myself for all of my actual running (and not having to stop and walk) until a 78-year-old woman and her dog passed me (I spoke with her after the race...to tell her good job! Because she schooled a bunch of us that were more than half her age.)
I did learn that I will need to do much longer training runs before my 9-Miler in Big Sur in April. At 5 miles, I had a little left to "sprint" to the finish, but not much. I need to build some more endurance.
Loved the pics! Looks like it was so much fun. I just started training again too for my first ever race. I'm only a month in, with two more months before the big day. And have mercy, I hope the weather warms up here soon b/c I'm getting so bored of running inside!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the finish!
Go Kelly go! I'm so proud of you! Enjoy that massage. You deserve it!
