A Getaway

Justin and I had the opportunity to take an overnight getaway last night thanks to Gigi, the fabulous free babysitter! She braved a night alone with the two kiddos while we had a wonderfully relaxing time.

We drove down for the coast and stopped for brunch in Carmel.

After a lesiurely lunch of wine and awesome food, we drove on
to our hotel, the Hyatt Highland Inn on the coast of Carmel.

It was awesome!

This charcoal drawing was on the wall - I loved it. Gigi...a reproduction perhaps?? 

 Justin and I enjoyed a nice long nap before catching sunset off our balcony. It was amazingly beautiful and we took lots of pictures.

 After that, we got dressed and had dinner at the hotel's restaurant, Pacific's Edge. It was delicious. We each had apps, steaks, cheese plates and dessert, and a great bottle of wine. It was so amazingly relaxing to just sit and talk to Justin for hours - no phones, no computers, no kids and no work! We had a great time. I had my first completely uninterrupted night's sleep since Caroline was born (!) and it was awesome!

This morning, we got up and headed up the coast to Monterey for brunch on the water.

We had brunch at the Intercontinental Clement Monterey. 

And did some shopping on Cannery Row. 

I thought this was a pretty flowerbox :)

 We had such a relaxing trip. It was so great to get away. Thank you, Gigi! She said the kids were good...but we didn't have to fight her to take a nap when we got home :) She's a trooper!
