34.5 weeks and still breech...

So today I had my 34.5 week checkup and Jack is still breech, not that that comes as any surprise to me since I can still feel his head in the same spot. They started talking seriously to me today about doing the External Version, where they try to turn him manually, or scheduling a C-section. Justin and I have lots of decisions to make in the next few weeks. It's not exactly how I had hoped that our baby would enter the world, but I am trying to make my peace with it and know that whatever is best for him is best for us! More details to come soon. The good news is that he is healthy, happy, and BIG! What more could a Mom ask for?? :)

On another note, Justin and I have watched Jon & Kate Plus 8 for a long time now. We like to analyze their parenting style and reflect on how we would be if we were in that situation. It made us both very sad last night when it was announced that they are divorcing. It was a very sad episode and we are both anxious to see what will happen from here.

33 Weeks - And Baby Shower!

I have officially hit 33 weeks! I cannot believe it. Time is flying by! Here I am in all my glory....

I had a great weekend. Both Grandmothers came up (although they definitely don't like being called Grandmas!) for a wonderful baby shower. Sam and Blair threw a beautiful party and everyone had a great time!
Here are Justin's Mom and my Mom (respectively):

First, here is my (bare!) belly at 33 weeks.

I am not shy, so here is the belly shot. The Moms convinced me to take these pictures and I was apprehensive at first, but they turned out great and I am sure I will be glad to have them one day. Can you believe how big it is??! It looks like a human basketball! I am very excited to meet baby Jack and I hope that he's comfortable in there!

Here are some of the wonderful ladies that made it to the shower. It was great to have everyone there and I really appreciated all of the beautiful gifts!

Thank you, everyone! It was terrific!! Although I missed a lot of my close friends and family down in Georgia, it felt very good to feel so loved up here in Boston!

After all of our visitors went home, Justin and I had our third of four birthing classes on Sunday afternoon. We learned a lot and we even had the joy of seeing the infamous "birth video." I think Justin was embarassed that it made me bawl (but what doesn't these days??) I cannot wait to meet baby Jack, however and whenever he decides to make his entrance into this world. He is still breech, as far as I can tell, but I am doing my best every day to change that. However if he doesn't decide to turn, I know that it's all up to a power greater than me, and I will be happy as long as he is healthy!

Thank you, everyone, for a great weekend!

32-week Appointment

Hi family & friends! I had my 32-week appointment today. Everything looks good, and Jack is growing just as big and strong as he should be. He is, however, still breech, and they started to talk to me about the things I will need to do in the next couple weeks.

There are apparently all kinds of crazy yoga positions that can compel him to move - if you know me at all, though, you know how TOTALLY inflexible I am. So although I will try very, very hard, when I was demonstrating them for the midwife this morning, she started laughing so hard I thought she was going to wet her pants! I will do my best though.

Sometime in the next week, I have to also get acupuncture that is apparently encouraging to baby movement. I am skeptical but willing to try, especially if it works. I have called to make the appointment so we will see how it goes!

Last, they said if he doesn't rotate downwards by 36 weeks, they will schedule an External Version. (See here.) I will have to go into the hospital and they will attempt to move him for me. We will see what happens but any prayers for him to move on his own would be greatly appreciated! As the only ultimate outcome if he doesn't turn is a C-section, we certainly don't want that if we can help it.

Justin and I have also had two weeks of Childbirth Class now. Time seems to be flying! We are learning a lot (Justin is the question-asker of the group!) and feel a little more prepared now than we did before. We have two more classes and we still haven't seen the infamous "video" of birth, so I'm sure we will feel much more prepared after that!

It seems like such a busy time and I cannot believe it is already mid-June! I am looking forward to seeing both GrandMoms (mine and Justin's moms) this weekend for my baby shower. It should be very relaxing and I am definitely looking forward to hanging out!

Lots of love and updates soon,
Kelly
