Jack was fascinated by the plane's "GAS HOLE." (Say that one out loud.) He kept asking me where they were putting the gas, and to point out the hole! Funny boy.

We survived our flight back home! I'll do a 2012 Year in Review later tonight as we ring in the new year. Happy day!!

We had a great Christmas, seeing every single one of our family members ALL in one day!! It was very busy and a bit crazy, but involved a lot of food and a LOT of presents. We were so lucky to be able to be in Georgia for the holiday for the first time in years.

Busy little bees

Caroline is a very busy little girl! She loves playing with her brother, tracking Beacon the Dog's every move, and trying SO SO hard to crawl!!!

Maybe Christmas presents will be the motivation she needs to get mobile. ;)

Our trip so far.

Well, we've been in Georgia for almost 2 weeks now (hard to believe!) It's been an exciting, if not eventful, time. Last week we went from Atlanta to St. Simons to see the Farrell grandparents. We enjoyed a quiet few days, and then Mom and I came down with the worst stomach flu that either of us have had in a long time. We spent most of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday throwing up or trying to get fluids in. It was absolutely miserable!

Just as we were starting to get better, we headed to Valdosta to see the Crosby grandparents. Monday, baby girl woke up with a fever, coughing, stuffy, and generally awful. We took her to see one of G-Doc's buddies here, a family practice doctor, and he gave her some antibiotics for her cough/chest congestion. She had a rough few days, but she seems to be getting better.

Wednesday morning, I woke up to a quiet house. Caroline woke up and we cuddled in bed, watching the news, hanging out. All of sudden Justin came bursting into the room, with his arms and hands all taped up and a hospital bracelet on. I freaked out- "what the heck happened to you?!?" He had gone (with his Dad, a doctor...which is the only consolation for him not waking ME UP!!!!) to the emergency room overnight because he was having chest pains and was worried he was having a heart attack. It turns out it was just acid reflux/ his stomach lining, and for that we are very grateful. He swears he was trying to let me sleep because I'd been up sleepless with baby girl for so long. But still. Really!?

Justin spent most of Wednesday sleeping, which is good, because when he was awake it was like he was on Final Destination. He somehow scraped his toe on the driveway, breaking his toe and ripping off his toenail in the process. Then today, he was building a model airplane with Jack and he sliced his finger with an Exacto knife. His dad had to rush him to the office to get three stitches. We are pretty sure we are putting him in a bubble tomorrow - in steel-toed boots and chain mail gloves. The guy's a walking disaster!

For the most part, we've been lazy bums, and it's been awesome. Lots of being sick, recovering, being sick again, and sleeping and laying around watching movies. What a great Christmas break! We look forward to Christmas Eve/Day/Night next week. The kids are so excited!

Here are some pictures...when we could actually make ourselves get out and take them. :)

Sweet baby girl.
Nanny Farrell and Caroline! BFF's.

I love her curly Q top hair. So funny.

Jack was so excited to ring the bell to start 11'o'clock church service.

Lunch @ Brunswick Country Club.

They refused to smile. You will see that this is a running theme...

SuSu barely making it through Sunday in public...poor thing.

SuSu and Pop-Pop!!

Holly berries and Georgia spanish moss. Pretty!

My mom's cranberry wreath - I love it!

Someone wants to crawl SO BAD.

Exhausted little boy took over Gigi and G-Doc's bed.

What is that face?!

So proud of his gingerbread house with Daddy.

Love this face!

Her favorite thing with her favorite person.

I made her shirt! You can't see the "C" but it's so cute.
Caroline eating her toes. Jack being silly boy.
Seriously. NO SMILING ALLOWED apparently! These kids
look like they should be in Les Mis!
Hopefully my next entry will be a bit more upbeat ;) Happy holidays!

Sadness

It has been a week of inexplicable violence. My small hometown lost a well-liked public leader early this week, a mall in Oregon was held hostage by a gunman, and then this morning we learned of the school tragedy in Connecticut.

I cannot make sense of any of it. I cannot wrap my head around the violence and the senseless pain that surrounds us. My heart breaks for parents, siblings, friends and neighbors who lost loved ones this week, especially innocent children so close to Christmas. True evil has touched us this week.

I spend a lot of time on this blog sharing the lighter moments of our lives. This is a short pause to remind us all how fleeting those moments are. On this cold winter's night, snuggle your kids close. Kiss your spouse. Call your parents. Thank the Lord above that you are lucky enough to do so. I know I am.
