I LOVE our new morning routine. It really works out best for all of us! I have rapidly realized that Jack and I are the early morning birds in the family, and Justin and Caroline are the late sleepers who will linger in bed as long as possible (side note: the teenager years with Caroline are going to be ROUGH! She already tells me "5 more minutes Mommy" and buries her head under the covers when I try to wake her up.)
Anyway, Jack and I get up early, usually by 7:00, and we have breakfast together and go over school stuff. Then we walk to his school, which is 0.65 miles. We've already gotten into a nice routine, and we have regular kids and moms that we walk with. We leave the house by 8:05am and Jack usually gets there with 5-10 minutes to play on the playground before the bell rings.
Justin is in charge of getting Caroline up, dressed, fed, and to school. It's good bonding time for them, but it also leads to some pretty hilarious stuff...like this:
Yes, she wore a shirt and boots to school. KLASSY!
She filed and buffed my nails for me...
She did some relaxing after napping on a hot day...
Both kids have been POOPED after school! Naps every day is the norm around here:
We have a family of bunnies that lives in the bushes in our side yard. Caroline had a bag of stale crackers in the car, so I told her to go put them "where the bunnies can have them for a snack" (thinking by the bushes.) Instead, she fed the bunny statue I have by the front door :)
This girl has the CRAZIEST BEDHEAD I have ever seen! EVER!
Because I'm crazy, I signed up for a half marathon in October and my second full marathon in November. I am running both with Maria, an instantaneous best buddy I made through my running group. We've started meeting at 6:00am on Monday mornings to run a trail near our houses. It's hilly and hard and we usually get a solidly difficult 5 miles in before I get home at 7:30 to get Jack up and ready for school. It's cathartic!
Justin and I had a random date night dinner in San Francisco to meet some of his old colleagues from Bose. It was awesome! We had a very nice dinner on the water watching the planes land at SFO.
I ran a randomly fast 5K!
Jack has really been working on his letters for school. He's doing well!
Caroline had 1.5 mil taggies.
This is a bad picture of both of us, but I met with Abby and baby Lewey (3 mos) at Chick-Fil-A for breakfast last week. He's super adorable!
We're enjoying the last days of summer...and Caroline is SWIMMING ALL BY HERSELF!!!
Saturday morning 6:00am run of 8 miles with new friends...
So much fun!
Rose Garden fun after breakfast at Bill's.
Someone DREW ON OUR COUCH. BAD GIRL.
Til next time!
Caroline CAN SWIM? That's awesome! Yay for her! Love this post- and all of your posts. :)
