Christmas in the Crosby House

Christmas dawned cold and early in our house. After our disaster on Thursday, we had been living with space heaters, which we moved from room to room as needed for the weekend. I was really upset, and worried that Christmas morning would be too cold for us to enjoy (amazingly, it's been getting down to 25 or 30 at night here!) Anyway, Justin, in a stroke of sweetness, got up at 4am Christmas morning to move all the heaters into our living room so that we could enjoy opening presents. It was very much appreciated.

This was the first year that Jack really knew what was going on. We spent the day "tracking" Santa on the NORAD website, and relaxing together at home baking cookies for Santa. He got excited about leaving cookies and chocolate milk for Santa, and seeing his loot under the tree when he woke up...
Jack dictated the note for Santa. :)
The full effect, right before Santa's elves went to bed for the night!

Of course he decided to sleep in Christmas morning...
when Justin and I were up and excited waiting for him!!
After opening presents...he was mad I made him
stop to take a picture!
We spent a leisurely morning opening each gift, and then playing with most of them. The biggest hit has been by far the garbage truck, which was his special request from Santa. He has slept with it most every night in his bed, and he likes it to eat dinner with us. I've heard that some kids have an imaginary friend when they are expecting a sibling, and I think this is Jack's manifestation of that. He makes sure that his fire truck and his garbage truck are sitting on the bench next to Daddy at every meal, and he makes their plates with his pretend food from his kitchen. They get all the same treatment as Jack - sippy cups, eating their vegetables, and wiping their hands and mouths when they are done. :)

Here are a few snapshots of our morning. I will post the whole video on You Tube soon!

Figuring out who gets which present...

Merry Christmas!!!

"Here Mommy Mommy" (No idea why he repeats everyone's name twice now)

Big smiles!

Opening a present from SuSu and Pop Pop!

Super fun :)

Okay, so opening presents takes awhile when he wants to
inspect every square inch of the package :)

Here's another one!

Making Mommy breakfast from my toy kitchen. It was yummy.
Justin was the photographer, so unfortunately we have very few pictures of him. But I promise he was there! We are looking forward to enjoying all of our toys and gifts in the coming weeks :)
