Caroline's 9-Month Checkup, and some other stuff.

Today, Caroline had her 9-month checkup at the pediatrician. How is she already 9 months old?? But I digress. Here are her stats:

• Length: 28 and 1/4 inches
• Weight: 18lb 6oz
• Head circumference: 45.3cm
• Hemoglobin: 10.8 (normal)

Everything ranges between the 45th and the 55th percentile. She's pretty much perfect!

Some notes: first, her beloved pediatrician that I looked high & low to find, is leaving the practice at the end of February. Luckily all of the other doctors in the office are fantastic, so we will be assigned to a new one. But we are so sad to see Dr. Trojnar go. The good news is that she's headed to work a clinic for underprivileged kids to get medical care, so that she can go part-time to stay at home with her daughter (Charlotte, who is 1 month older than Caroline.) We wish her well, but we will miss her!

No shots on this visit! Yay...Caroline and Mommy were both super pumped about that. Her 12-month checkup will be rough.

She meets or excels at all of the 9-month old milestones, including:

• Learns quickly when you teach by gently showing.
• Stand while holding onto a couch or chair. (OR CRIB, OR BATHTUB, OR WALL, OR TABLE...)
• Say "ma-ma" (NO) or "da-da" (OF COURSE.)
• Poke fingers into tiny openings. (YES YES YES!!!!!! TIME FOR BETTER BABY-PROOFING.)
• Copy speech and sounds.
• Bang together two objects held in hands. (SHE IS SO LOUD.)

Overall it was a great checkup. She's such a good baby. We are so very lucky.

Jack and I went to REI this weekend. Oops. It was
expensive, but fun! Because yes, every 3-year-old needs
their own Camelback for hiking :)

We are so into it that we hiked Saturday AND Sunday this weekend!
This was just a short little one before Daddy had to go into work, but it was fun.
(And "short little" now means 2 miles. What is wrong with us?!)

and this awesome Mountain Buggy double jogging stroller on Craigslist this week. BAZINGA!
