15-month and 4-year-old checkups

For the first time, both kids had checkups this morning.

That also meant that they both got shots.

On the same day.

Because of that (in my mind) very daunting task, Justin took the morning off to be with us at the doctor's office. I think he enjoyed seeing the kids in this environment again. It's been so long since he was taking little baby Jack to all of his doctor and ear appointments in Boston, and he hasn't even had a chance to see their California pediatrician's office since we've been here!

Anyway, without further ado here are their stats:

Jack:
Weight: 35.5 lbs (25th percentile)
Height: 38.75 inches (15-25 percentile)
Blood pressure: 105/59 (great!)

He passed all of his "tests" with flying colors. Can he identify his colors, count to 10, spell his name, and try to write it? Yes, yes, yes, yes. Can he jump and run and stack things and concentrate? Yes. Does he play his iPad too much? Um, probably yes. But he's getting plenty of exercise, eating fairly well, and growing like he should.

Caroline:
Weight: 21lb 6oz (50th percentile)
Height: 31.25 inches (50th percentile)
Head circumference: 46.5cm (great!)

Caroline is a crazy girl, and the doctor even noticed that in the 30 minutes she was with us in the exam room. Climbing, running, getting stuck in things, getting into cabinets and toilets, putting everything in her mouth, drooling, teething, yelling, saying a few words...ALL YES! She happily and loudly blew through all of her milestone tests, with a big grin the whole time :)

Jack got three shots:

Two in this arm and one in the other arm.

Caroline got three shots too:

Jack went first. He was a really big boy- he screamed a little, but when it was time for the needles he looked them dead on as they went in (seriously!) He cried just a little, but then we told him it was time for Caroline to get hers and he turned into Super Big Brother. He told her it would be okay, stroked her leg, and when she screamed bloody murder, he held her hand and told her that it would feel better soon. So adorable. I am so proud of him!

I was so thankful to have Justin with me. Next time I'll probably be fine, but for the first time with both kids, I was very grateful for the help!
