Happy Again!

We welcomed Gigi and G-Doc on Friday, and Daddy came home on Saturday! Life has been a lot easier (for me) since I got more hands around here! The kids have loved having entertainment (other than me) and it's been so nice to have Justin around again.

Enjoying her bouncer!

It's still Movember! I don't mind it at all, but Justin's mom is SUPER annoyed...
it's kind of funny :)

Poor tired girl at dinner tonight. She loved feeding herself mashed potatoes!

Yum yum!

Mess? Yes. Good? YES!

Giggling.

Those pants are getting a little tight!

G-Doc showing her a video of herself. Every baby loves that!

Crazy little man.

Pretty much the worst week!

I only have a few minutes, but to sum it up: this week has been pretty awful. Caroline was sick, and in turn got a horrible awful diaper rash that caused her to scream in pain pretty much every time she moved. She's been up a lot during the night and has been taking awful naps too.

Jack has (thankfully) been going to school, but he has been bored and restless at home. On Monday, he told me to "go away, because I'm tired of you!" Sadly, I felt the same way. He's been up at 6:00am (or earlier) most days. Mommy is T.I.R.E.D.!!!

Yesterday I had my CT scan for abdominal pain. That was pretty uneventful, no results yet. But while trying to get ready, I locked myself out the house. I had to break in, basically, and while doing so I cut my right hand up pretty badly on the glass. I showed up for my scan dripping blood and ended up needed stitches in the emergency room.

Today, on the wrong day, the shipping company turned up to exchange our new mega-size TV that Justin bought himself (because it was showing weird lines in HD mode.) They unboxed the new replacement they brought, and it had a giant crack down the middle of the screen. The took away both TV's and can't bring us another new one until next week.

Did I mention that Justin's been in China for 2 weeks, and his trip was extended today?

Sigh. I am not being Negative Nancy. Next week is Thanksgiving! My favorite holiday!! And then we have a long Christmas break and a family trip back east to look forward to. It's just hard to be positive when I'm exhausted and lonely and ready for something to go right :)

To make you smile, and to remind me how great things in my life really are, I will leave you with a few recent pictures off my phone. I tell the kiddos all the time... "it's a good thing you're CUTE!!!!"

We voted! We lost, but we voted!

Soothing her poor bum in the tub. For a few days,
it's the only way I could change her diaper.

At the doctor's for her bottom problems :(

Nursing strike.

Tired and sockless baby girl.

Our weekend

First, here are a few shots from this weekend. The kids were playing in Caroline's crib after bathtime and it was too cute!

"I love you, baby Caroline!"
Response: "ppppffllltttttt!"
Soooo big.

Hi Mom!

There's trouble in them there eyes...
Also, on Saturday, I was lucky and blessed enough to help host a baby shower for Chrissy! She is due next month (crazy!) and we all had a blast celebrating the imminent arrival of baby Daniel Dix.

Kim playing with Caroline ... who was way more interested in the balloon.
Chrissy looks amazing!! Only a few more weeks!
The spread! Adriana and I had a blast planning and preparing.
Diaper cake and goodie bags.
Adriana is much more creative than I am. :)
Caroline was so excited to have another baby to play with.
One of the games was played was to craft a baby out of a little tub of playdoh.
Mine was the fat pink one at the top with arms and legs splayed. I lost! Ha ha!
Present time.
Everything was so cute and little!!!
We cannot wait to meet the new baby, sometime at the end of December (hopefully!)

Quirky yet cute.

Caroline is so adorably quirky. I am not sure if all 6-month-olds are like this (I honestly can't remember!) but she does things all the time that just leave me smiling and shaking my head. For example...

She is the loudest sleeper I have ever heard. Most nights, I share a room with her because she sometimes still gets up to eat. She wakes me up (through earplugs!) multiple times a night with groans, giggles, sighs, full belly laughs, screeches, howls, and whimpers - all while she is completely sound asleep. I dart out of bed, shushing her calmingly, thinking she's woken up scared or hungry...and her little eyes are tightly shut as she does all these things.

She also loves to try her newfound pincher grasp on anything. Her little fingers work to quickly grasp tiny little things like pieces of ribbon, my hair, my freckles on my shoulders, Justin's glasses, her puffs, my ring, our watches, etc. She gets this furrowed brow of extreme concentration and then of course, when she's successful, the item goes directly into her mouth.

She still sleeps tightly swaddled. But she can get out, and frequently does. Today she had gotten one arm out and one leg, and was kicking her music maker in her crib while her other leg was still lost in the swaddle. She found it hilarious.

Recently she discovered that the bottoms of her feet are ticklish. So now diaper changes, where I hold her like a bound hog, are full of huge giggles. Then her feet go directly into her mouth while she laughs hysterically.

She absolutely loves anyone looking at her. In stores, like Target or Safeway, she rides in the cart holding on like such a proud big girl. When someone even glances in her direction, she dissolves into a fit of giggles.

She eats cloth like it's her job. Her shirt, sheets, blankets, pillows, Jack's taggies (he gets really mad.) She loves to gnaw on cloth. I think she has a little bit of Pop-Pop and his proclivity for napkin-chewing in her :)

Yesterday she crawled (scooted?) backwards for about 10 feet. She has also started lunging forward over her feet in the sitting position. Crawling for real is in our very immediate future!

She takes baths with Jack just sitting on a mat in the tub. She kept lunging out of her baby lounger face-first into the water, so this is actually safer...and they both love splashing each other.

She is a big talker! Screeches, coos, grunts and clicks make up her language now...but soon they will be real words!

We are loving every second of watching her grow. She is SO good and we get comments all the time about how chill and happy she is. She fits her name so well to me!!

About Jack...small update. His last ear tube fell out in September and his ENT doctor ordered a hearing test. He passed beautifully in his right ear, but failed in his left. We have to go back to his ENT next week to take a look.

And me...although I was cleared on my big ultrasound last month, I am still having a LOT of pain around my incision. I have an appointment tomorrow with a surgeon specializing in post-operative pain. I will let you know results if I get any.

Ciao!

Crazy kids

I saw some poses in a magazine of professional pics of siblings. I tried them out today, but the kids weren't really cooperating. (And in the pics, the baby girl had one a super cute bow and bloomers...not a diaper.) Anyway. I will keep working on it, but I thought these were cute.

Caroline Sue @ 6 months old.

It's a rainy, yucky day so I pulled out my trusty camera to try a few shots of our sweet girl. She had just woken up and was super giggly, but every time I put the camera in front of my face she got very serious. Oh, well! I think they turned out pretty good!

She was talking to me about something...she's always talking, just like Jack!

Rocking the all-fours. She's going to be a crawler any day now!

So excited for Christmas!

Look at those adorable rolls!!!

She's doing the lip-blowing thing now. So cute!!!
