38 weeks...and lots of fun!

Today I am officially 38 weeks. Hppy Easter! For those of you keeping track, Jack was born at 38 weeks + 4 days... so theoretically baby girl could come at any time now. I am enjoying lots of (seriously painful) contractions, "false" signs of labor, and pain in general when I do more than stand up for 5 minutes at a time, but I am trying to keep busy and keep my mind off everything that is coming up. It's very hard to believe that we are soon to add a newborn to our lives!

We finished off a great week with Pop-Pop and SuSu by seeing some sights on Friday. First, we hit the Golden Gate Bridge (well, not literally...)
It was a beautiful day!
From there, we drove to Fisherman's Wharf for some yummy famous seafood. We got crab, shrimp, mussels, and I downed a plate of pasta that was incredibly delicious. Jack was a shrimp fanatic and loved the crab meat too. Who knew?! What two-year-old eats seafood like it's their job?! Mine does! I was so proud of him. What a good boy!

The Crab House at Pier 39 ... so delicious. Can't wait to chomp down on some more!
We also, of course, had to squeeze in time to see the Easter Bunny before the holiday weekend. We never know how Jack is going to react to these things, but he did great. He even took the Easter Bunny a present - a little egg he had colored for him in school. He sat like such a good boy and enjoyed a few minutes of cuddle time with the man (bunny) himself.
Mommy was large and in charge!

Settling in...
Got a good one!! Way to go little man.

We were very sad to take Pop-Pop and SuSu to the airport on Saturday night. That's never easy, but poor Jack was worn out, tired, and hopped up on sugar (we "did" Easter on Saturday morning), and he lost it. He was so very sad to see them go that he cried hysterically! But we reassured him that we have lots more excitement in store because Gigi comes on Saturday and baby sister will be here any day! And we will have lots of playtime with all four of our grandparents this summer :)

He took is fairly well and got a good nights sleep. Easter Sunday dawned beautifully and we had a little family breakfast at Happy Donuts (sorry Pop-Pop!) Then we had tickets to Stanford University's Holi Festival Celebration on campus. It's a Hindu holiday also called "the Festival of Colors," celebrated in the spring with the ritual of throwing colored powder all over each other. Some of Justin's co-workers told us about it and how much fun it was for kids. We invited Abby, Jesse, and their two girls Molly and Penny to come too. It was an absolute blast! I have lots of pictures of when we were all first "clean," and then only a few "dirty" ones because it was IMPOSSIBLE to get the camera out without getting it all colored. (I put all of our "valuables" like phones, wallets, cameras, in little ziploc baggies and they STILL got covered with a fine red dust!)

Anyway, Jack had so much fun. I think he ran from 10am - 1pm nonstop, only to shove a sandwich and some goldfish down and get back to it. They had a special kid's corner (thank goodness!) where it wasn't quite so crazy. We all had plenty of opportunity to be colored though!

At the very beginning - finger painting!

Getting a little more messy...

Coloring our own souviner shirt!
We got there early, and around 11 they opened up the containers of colored powder. It was like cornstarch, mixed with very vivid colors. If you threw it at someone, it stuck! The best part was then the water guns, which you could buy, and squirt people with . When the colors got wet it was like a tie-dye effect on everything. I am not sure our hair, ears, noses, shoes, or car will ever be the same!! But it was every kid's dream... get as dirty and messy as humanly possible, AND do it to Mommy and Daddy too!!

Throwing red at Daddy!

So much fun!!

Running with some of the other kids.

Family shot. Trust me - when we left, we were 100x dirtier!!

Red from head to toe. Somehow it even got in my diaper!
After a lot of running around, Daddy bought a squirt gun. They had big pools to fill it up with water... Jack was GOOD with that gun and got us both (and random other people) multiple times!

Soon Jack's bud Molly showed up... and fun ensued.
So. MESSY!

Lunch break. Even baby Penny got in on the action!
Finally it was time to go home..mainly because Jack was so tired he'd randomly fall down and I kept thinking he'd fall asleep on the playing field! We stripped him down in the parking lot and loaded him into the car... Look at his little face!!!

We had fun. It is definitely worth it and we will go again next year!! Happy Easter, Happy Holi, and Happy almost baby girl's birthday!!!
