two quick things (re: Jack Derry Crosby)

I am using his full name because he deserves it after the last 24 hours!

1.  Last night I had my first two-kid panic moment. We grilled shrimp for dinner and gave Jack an appetizer bowl to eat in front of the TV while we finished making all the sides (he loves shrimp.) So 5 minutes later I hear Caroline, who was just lounging on the living room floor, screaming bloody murder. Jack had chewed up a shrimp, spit it into his hand, and was forcing pieces into her mouth. I yelled and scared him, both kids cried a lot, and I had to gag her and make her throw up just in case she had swallowed any. Justin asked Jack (basically) "what the hell is wrong with you? What were you thinking??" and Jack said "that's what I saw a Mommy bird do on TV for her baby bird. Babies can eat food that's already been chewed up!!" SERIOUSLY!!! On the flip side, I guess my 4 MONTH OLD isn't allergic to shellfish (yet)...

2. Justin's been telling Jack for the last few weeks that when he grows up poops in the potty and not in his diaper, he can pick out any toy he wants at the toy store. So Jack's been talking about a "big big big toy!" that he can get. Needless to say, it hasn't worked yet. Today, after school, he was an absolute mess so I threw him in the bathtub before naptime. I walk in and I knew it before I saw it - he pooped in the tub. A massive, huge, adult-sized turd. He was smiling and so proud of himself and goes, "Mommy! Now I can go to the toy store to get a big big big toy! I pooped, and not in my diaper!!" I swear. The kid is Justin reincarnated with his smart-ass-ness!!!

That is all. This has been an adventuresome few days so I am sure I will have more posts soon! Thank goodness I haven't had to yell "Caroline Sue Crosby!" yet ... but I'm sure it's coming.

How can something this cute be so RIDICULOUS?!?!

Giving himself a bath in Caroline's tub.

Yes, he got in there all by himself.

  1. I know this wasn't fun at the time, but this may be one of my favorite posts ever! I swear, you'll look back at this and laugh! In the meantime, I'd keep a close eye on that kid. Trouble. =)

  2. I don't know what to say! How wonderful was the connection that he made between birds, chewing the food, and babies? Maybe he'll learn to ask first when he is wondering about something, until then someone always has to be on " Jack" duty!
